Ancient Treasures of China

For several years we have arranged tours to China for hundreds of Friends as traveling to China is unlike anything you will imagine as it dates back to the 17th century. Best of all, you will be traveling with other Friends from various parts of the country to one of the most traveled to destinations filled with over 5,000 years of ancient history. Besides seeing the Great Wall in Beijing, you will fly to Xian to see the world-famous Terracotta Warriors followed by a flight to Shanghai. As you can see, we have an exciting itinerary to include the natural wonders, scenic beauty and ancient history in this remarkable part of the world. You will gain an understanding of China’s landmarks and people as it is still known as the “breadbasket of the world” as this is where the world gets its wheat and rice. Make reservations now before this tour sells out as there are so many highlights that make this one tour you do not want to miss!

Wed./April 18 Everyone will depart from their hometown on an overnight flight to Beijing, China. Enjoy dinner, a movie and some rest.

Thurs./April 19 During the night you’ll cross the International Dateline. Arrive Beijing and transfer to your hotel where you can start exploring.

Fri./April 20 After a breakfast meeting with all of the Friends, you will tour this fascinating city starting with Tiananmen Square, the largest public plaza in the world as it holds over 1 million people. You will then make your way through the 800 buildings of the incredible Forbidden City, once home to 10,000 people that maintained the emperors of China. After lunch you will visit the centuries-old Hutongs area for an exciting ride on a rickshaw as you wind your way through the narrow ancient alleyways to visit a local Chinese family where you will learn how to make dumplings. Tonight you will enjoy a special Peking Duck dinner.

Sat./April 21 This is a day you will not forget. The first stop will be for photos at the “Bird’s Nest,” where the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics took place. The real highlight of the day will be the THE GREAT WALL! Built 2,000 years ago, it took 300,000 people to construct and is one of the most amazing structures in the world. It extends 3,500 miles that can be seen by the astronauts from space. To stand and walk on The Great Wall with its incredible views is an experience in itself. Lunch is included and then you will return to Beijing.

Sun./April 22 Most of the day will be at leisure as shopping is unbelievably inexpensive as many name brands are made here in China and then shipped to other countries. Later, everyone will board the short flight to Xian that’s surrounded by an ancient city wall built in the 14th century. You’ll then check into the hotel including dinner in a nearby restaurant.

Mon./April 23 Today’s highlight is seeing over 7,000 life sized Terra Cotta warriors and horses buried centuries ago made of clay that was just discovered in 1974 by a farmer digging a well. Presidents from around the world are now coming to see why archeologists are calling this the 8th Wonder of the World as they continue to uncover more underground treasures. Each man is molded after a real soldier with precision and detail. Examine the faces and try to identify any two alike. The experience is indescribable as you come face to face with history hundreds of years ago. (See Awake 12/8/05 pg. 20) Lunch is included and then you will experience an exciting golf cart ride on the massive Ming Dynasty City Wall that surrounds the city. Another highlight will be tonight’s entertainment that will include a special Chinese dumpling dinner followed by an amazing Tang Dynasty Dancing and Singing Performance that’s performed only in China.

Tues./April 24 This morning you will visit the Huxian Farmer’s Painting Village including a Chinese painting lesson where you will see how each inch of the painted canvas is filled with scenes from their daily rural life. After lunch with a local painter’s family you will be taken to the airport for the flight to Shanghai and then transferred to your hotel including dinner.
