Greek Isles Cruise
This exciting cruise is on Royal Caribbean’s “JEWEL OF THE SEAS” that departs Rome, Italy and sails to the Greek Islands of Santorini and Mykonos, including visits in Athens and Katakolon that’s filled with outdoor cafés in the country of Greece. Your cruise ship is like a floating hotel with a variety of restaurants to choose from including a pizzeria. Best of all, there is no food to buy for the entire cruise as breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included daily. You’ll enjoy the two-level dining room and multiple restaurants featuring Asian, Italian, and Mexican cuisines. Even the glass elevators look out on the ocean. On board there is a shopping galleria, mini golf course, a rock climbing wall, a complete fitness center, plus two swimming pools and hot tubs. Be sure to watch the high wire acrobatic show. Aug 11 Everyone will fly overnight from their hometown to Rome, Italy. Enjoy dinner, a movie and some rest as you cross the Atlantic Ocean.
Aug 12 Arrive Rome and transfer to the cruise ship in Civitavecchia that departs at 5:00 p.m. Tonight, there will be a “Welcome Dinner” with separate dining room tables reserved just for our group of Jehovah’s Witnesses so you can meet Friends from various parts of the country.
Aug 13 A “Fun Day at Sea.” Enjoy the warm weather around the swimming pool. Browse through the ship’s shops and watch a professional ice skating show.
Aug. 14 Be on deck as you approach the most unusual island of SANTORINI. It’s hard to describe the sensation you get when you first see this breathtaking island situated on a high cliff that sits on the rim of an ancient volcano which erupted in 1600 B.C. The town with its narrow walking streets can be reached only by cable car or on an exciting donkey ride. It is one of the most photographed islands in the world. (Awake 9/8/00 p.16)
Aug. 15 This morning you will arrive at the picturesque island of MYKONOS. It is known for its unique landscape with windmills, quaint narrow alleyways, white washed houses, and often called the “Venice of Greece.” You will enjoy its famous sandy beaches and crystal clear waters visited by many artists and celebrities from around the world. Tonight, enjoy a Broadway musical performance.
Aug. 16 Early this morning your ship will arrive in PIRAEUS, the port for ATHENS, GREECE. Here you can Tour the Areopagus (Mars Hill), scene of Paul’s dramatic experience where he delivered his most famous discourse of “The Unknown God.” See the ancient Parthenon high atop the Acropolis and then wander through the Central Market, one of the oldest and most colorful markets in Greece! (WT 7/15/98, p. 25 and Awake 3/8/00, p.13) You can also visit the bazaar for bargains on jewelry, leather goods and Greek souvenirs.
Aug. 17 Today you will arrive in the port village of KATAKOLON, where the ancient Greeks came to watch the Olympic Games that started in 776 B.C. This quaint little seaside town on the Ionian Sea is a gateway to ancient Olympia. You can stand at the starting line where the games were once held and imagine the voices of thousands of spectators sitting on the stone bleachers that are now over 2000 years old. Be sure to visit the Archaeological Museum and walk through the narrow streets to explore the marketplace and its many outdoor cafés along the seaside. Try some of the famous fried calamari in a Greek taverna along with a glass of Ouzo at a waterfront café.
Aug. 18 Sleep in and have breakfast in bed or be up at the crack of dawn to enjoy the beautiful blue Mediterranean Sea. The entire day is free to relax and enjoy all the fun activities onboard the ship. Tonight, the chefs have prepared a surprise dinner with entertainment that you will surely enjoy.
Aug. 19 Arrive back in Civitavecchia where you will then be transferred from the ship to the Rome airport for the return flight to your hometown city.
CRUISE ONLY INCLUDES: All on board meals, entertainment, and choice of an inside cabin without a window or an oceanview cabin with a large picture window. All of the balcony cabins have a private lanai overlooking the ocean so you can sit outside and enjoy a morning coffee or a beautiful sunset. (You can make your own arrangements to Rome, Italy or call our office for the cruise line airfare from any USA or Canadian city including transportation to and from the ship. Depending on your departure city, the approximate round-trip airfare to Rome is $1300-$1500.)
Prices are per person for the cruise only from Rome based on two people sharing a cabin including all TAXES AND GOVERNMENT FEES. If you do not have a roommate, we will attempt to assign one for you. (PASSPORT IS REQUIRED)
