SPAIN – FRENCH RIVIERA – FLORENCE – ROME – NAPLES
This exciting cruise departs from Barcelona, Spain on one of Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines largest ships, the “FREEDOM OF THE SEAS.” Enjoy warm weather to the most popular destinations in Europe including world-class performers featured in all the Broadway productions that will simply amaze you. There will also be a variety of optional tours in each of the ports where you can visit the French Riviera plus Rome and Florence. You can also visit the ruins of POMPEII or tour the famous AMALFI COAST. Each country has had at least 3,000 years to prepare for your visit so you won’t be disappointed. Separate dining room tables will be reserved for our group of Jehovah’s Witnesses so you can get acquainted with other Friends from around the country. Each day breakfast, lunch and dinner are included in the dining room or at one of the buffets. The ship also has other specialty restaurants featuring Italian, French, Chinese and Japanese Hibachi plus a steakhouse and even a pizza and ice cream parlor.
This is a great way to see Europe at the lowest possible cost, as each country is totally different. Casual dress is fine for each day or you can dress up for one of the formal evenings. There are shops on board and in the evening you will enjoy Broadway musical shows and other entertainment. You can also have your photo taken by professional photographers with the ship as a background.
You will find a variety of activities on board the ship as it has four swimming pools, mini-golf, a rock climbing wall as well as an ice-skating rink featuring professional skaters who will amaze you with their skating performances. After the show, you are invited to put on skates to enjoy ice-skating on your own. Each evening you will enjoy the live orchestra, piano sing-alongs, and
Broadway musical performances.
Sept. 23 Fly overnight from your hometown to BARCELONA, SPAIN. Enjoy dinner, a movie and some rest as you cross the Atlantic Ocean.
Sept. 24 Arrive BARCELONA and transfer to the elegant cruise ship for lunch and to start exploring this enormous ship which is like a floating hotel.
Sept. 25 Be on deck this morning to enjoy the scenic French Riviera as you enter into the harbor of Provence, France. Here you can visit the exclusive areas of the French Riviera, including the hilltop villages, museums and fashionable boutiques on the famous seaside streets, as you will have a full day to explore the beautiful area of Provence. Enjoy seeing the best sights of the city including one of the enchanting hilltop villages where you can have a wine tasting in the oldest city of France known for its quaint sidewalk cafes featuring their famous French pastries. Each year thousands of people travel here just for the beautiful views as it is home to some of the most scenic, breathtaking cliffs and other sights in the hilltop villages.
Sept. 26 Early this morning you will arrive in Nice, France, where you will have the entire day free to explore more of the ancient and elegant French Riviera where there are many walking streets in the Historic District. You can also visit the medieval village of Eze and the Principality of Monaco.
Sept. 27 Arrive in LA SPEZIA, where you can tour the city of Florence, birthplace of the Renaissance with its impressive sculptures as it is one of the most beautiful cities in Italy. You’ll marvel at the Florentine treasures and museums that feature artists like Botticelli and Donatello. Florence is famous for its bargains on jewelry, including Italian leather goods such as gloves and shoes in the outdoor market. You can also tour Tuscany to see the famous “Leaning Tower of Pisa” or visit amazing Cinque Terre known for its five small unique villages along the sea that’s connected by either a ferry boat or train.
Sept. 28 Another day to remember as you dock at the port of CIVITAVECCHIA. Entire day free to visit ROME, known as the “Eternal City” and World Empire of Bible history. On the sightseeing tour you’ll learn the history of Rome. See the magnificent Colosseum, site of gladiator fights and the Circus Maximus where “Ben Hur” chariot races were once held. Some tours include visiting St. Peter’s Square and Basilica, the largest church in Christendom. (Awake, 4/8/91, p. 24) See the Spanish steps and the famous Trevi Fountain that’s been featured in many movies. Be sure to try some Italian gelato.
Sept. 29 Arrive in NAPLES, ITALY, where you can take a sightseeing tour along the cliffs on the famous Amalfi Coast. You can also visit a typical Italian farmhouse where you will learn about cheese and olive oil production and then taste fresh mozzarella and salami in the picturesque hilltop town of Sorrento. You may also visit Pompeii where ancient Romans once lived and is where over 20,000 lives were lost under the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 A.D. (See Awake, 2/07, p. 14) You can still see the ancient buildings and streets where people were buried alive as this is one of the most awesome experiences in Italy. Another option is to take a jetfoil boat ride to the beautiful Isle of Capri for a tour of the island that’s built on a hilltop with incredible views.
Sept. 30 A “Fun Day at Sea” to enjoy the warm weather around the swimming pools including all of the exciting on board activities. Each day you can eat at the restaurant of your choice followed by spectacular Broadway shows.
Oct. 1 Arrive BARCELONA and transfer to the airport for your return flight.
CRUISE ONLY INCLUDES: All meals, entertainment, choice of an inside cabin without a window or an oceanview cabin with a picture window. All balcony cabins have a private patio overlooking the ocean so you can enjoy a morning coffee and a beautiful sunset. You can make your own flight arrangements to Barcelona, Spain or call our office for the airfare from any USA or Canadian city, including transportation to and from the ship. (Depending on your departure city, the approximate round-trip airfare is $1000-$1300 to Barcelona)
Prices are per person for the cruise only from Barcelona based on two people in a cabin including all TAXES AND GOVERNMENT FEES. If you do not have a roommate, we will attempt to assign one for you. (PASSPORT IS REQUIRED).
