TOUR #11 – Discover Eastern Europe

By popular request, we have arranged a group Tour to EASTERN EUROPE that includes the most interesting and fascinating cities in the countries of GERMANY, the CZECH REPUBLIC, SLOVAKIA, HUNGARY, and AUSTRIA. Included is a Tour Escort who takes you back in time visiting historical sites and monuments dating back to the 16th century as each country is entirely different from one another. You will enjoy the beautiful countryside and scenic drives through the mountains passing castles, the Blue Danube River and views of the Alps. The highlight is a visit to the Watchtower Branch Office in Budapest, Hungary. This is the most comprehensive Tour available and the best time to travel as it is less crowded. Breakfast is included daily plus six dinners. Best of all, you will be traveling with Friends from other parts of the country.

Thu. Apr. 16 Everyone will fly overnight on various flights to MUNICH, GERMANY. Enjoy dinner and a movie as you cross the Atlantic Ocean to begin a most exciting Eastern European Tour. (Book early as this Tour will sell out.)

Fri. Apr. 17 Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel. This afternoon there will be an orientation Tour of this Bavarian capital followed by a “Welcome Dinner” to meet all of the Friends traveling with you on this Tour.

Sat. Apr. 18 After breakfast, everyone will depart by motorcoach through the Bohemian Forest to visit the ancient town of Regensburg on the Danube River that was founded in 179 A.D. You will then arrive in PRAGUE, the capital of the CZECH REPUBLIC famous for its Medieval architecture where you will experience a thousand years of history and culture as this is your home for two nights. (See Awake 11/8/03 p.21) Tonight, enjoy dinner on your own at one of the nearby restaurants.

Sun. Apr. 19 This morning there will be a sightseeing tour of the city including the thousand-year-old Prague Castle. You will then cross the river on a walking Tour to the Old Town Square to see the amazing astronomical clock. Afternoon is free or you may want to visit the marvelous shopping center especially known for its traditional Czech cut glass and crystal. Tonight, you will enjoy a typical Czech dinner with music and a colorful folklore show.

Mon. Apr. 20 Depart the beauty of Prague and travel through three countries. First will be the green hills of MORAVIA. Next, you will enter SLOVAKIA to visit the capital, Bratislava. You then continue along the Danube River to the romantic city of BUDAPEST in HUNGARY, your home for the next two nights.

Tue. Apr. 21 Budapest is known as one of the world’s most beautiful cities as the Danube River splits Budapest in half with Buda on one side of the river, and Pest is on the opposite bank. Today you will see the highlights of both cities including the Chain Bridge, the Royal Palace and Gellert Hill, where you will enjoy superb views across the Danube River below. Balance of the day is at leisure as these twin cities are known as a shopper’s paradise. Tonight, a special Hungarian dinner is included.

Wed. Apr. 22 The highlight this morning will be a visit to the Watchtower Branch Office. (Go to and scroll down to “About Us – Offices and Tours” and then continue to “Select Location – Hungary” for a beautiful 8-page brochure on the Hungary Branch Office.”) You will then depart Budapest to the Roman-founded city of Gyor for a Tour of this Medieval town. Next you will arrive in the imperial city of VIENNA, AUSTRIA for two exciting nights, the home of the famous Strauss violins.

Thu. Apr. 23 Today you will tour this elegant city known for its art and architecture that was once home to famous composers such as Mozart, Haydn and Strauss. You will visit the exquisite Hofburg Palace, the former residence of the Habsburg Dynasty with its beautiful gardens. Be sure to taste some delicious Viennese pastries. Tonight is another fun evening with dinner at the Rathskeller including dancers with songs and music from Austria’s most beloved composers.

Fri. Apr. 24 Another exciting day as you travel through the beautiful Vienna Woods passing acres of vineyards to the quaint town of SALZBURG, the “City of Music.” Here you’ll walk through the narrow streets passing the birthplace of Mozart who is known for his music. This is also where the “Sound of Music” was filmed. Tonight, you will enjoy a typical Austrian dinner at your hotel.

Sat. Apr. 25 Today you will cross the border back into the Bavarian country of GERMANY with views of the famous Alps to the lovely city of MUNICH. Tonight’s highlight will be a special “Farewell Dinner” that you will surely enjoy.

Sun. Apr. 26 It’s time to say “Auf Wiedersehen” to Germany as everyone will be transferred to the airport for their return flight to the USA. Enjoy lunch and a movie on board your flight before arriving back in your home city. You have now seen the highlights of Eastern Europe with its spectacular palaces, castles, museums, sidewalk cafés, ancient history and a variety of foods in each country. Europe is a continent you just have to see to believe!
