IRELAND is a country that dates back to the 13th century and is known for its fascinating Medieval castles, charming villages, narrow winding roads, dramatic cliffs and warm Irish hospitality. You’ll marvel at the spectacular countryside including a day spent on what’s called “The Dingle Peninsula.” Breakfast is included daily plus we have included five typical Irish dinners. One of the highlights will be meeting the local Friends at the Kingdom Hall in Killarney and staying in a 15th Century Castle for two nights. Sun. Oct. 27 Everyone will fly overnight from any US or Canadian city to DUBLIN, Ireland. Dinner will be served followed by a movie and a few hours of rest as you cross the Atlantic Ocean before touring this most interesting country and to learn about the history of Ireland.
Mon. Oct. 28 Arrive Dublin this morning and transfer to your hotel for three nights. Later, you will visit the Guinness Brewery to learn about Ireland’s “black beer” and to enjoy a complimentary creamy pint.
Tue. Oct. 29 Today there will be a sightseeing Tour of Dublin to see the architectural treasures and history of the city that dates back over 1,000 years. You will also visit Dublin’s library to see Ireland’s famous treasures–the priceless 8th Century Book of Kells before returning to your hotel.
Wed. Oct. 30 After breakfast you will explore Dublin’s coastline and a Tour of Malahide Castle, one of the most preserved Medieval castles dating back to the 12th Century. Afternoon free to explore O’Connell Street, the longest pedestrian-only walking street in Ireland for shopping. Be sure to visit an Irish pub for some Irish music and food such as corned beef or an Irish pie with steak and mushrooms, potatoes and peas, a specialty of Ireland.
Thu. Oct. 31 This morning everyone will board our deluxe motorcoach for a scenic countryside Tour passing castles, historic sites and small villages. You will see why Ireland is noted for its “40 Shades of Green.” A stop will be made at the Cahir Castle, one of Ireland’s largest and best-preserved castles situated on a rocky island by the River Suir. You will then continue to the 15th century “Blarney Castle” and its beautiful gardens. This is where the famous Blarney Stone is located on top of the castle. (See Awake, 4/22/04, p. 18) Next to the castle is the Blarney Woolen Mills Outlet, known for its lace, woolens, china, jewelry and other Irish treasures. Continue over the mountains and stay for two nights in the town of KILLARNEY, Ireland’s loveliest city where an enjoyable Irish dinner is included each evening. Another highlight will be attending the Christian Life and Ministry meeting tonight at the Kingdom Hall to meet some of the local Irish Friends.
Fri. Nov. 1 Following breakfast, you will enjoy a scenic drive around the beautiful Dingle Peninsula, including a stop to visit the town of DINGLE. You will then return to your hotel for dinner. This is Ireland, as you have always imagined it!
Sat. Nov. 2 This morning there will be an optional jaunting cart Tour before departing to ADARE, Ireland’s prettiest village known for its cottages and stone walls. Continue to LIMERICK for an overnight stay where you will Tour the Bunratty Castle and the Irish Folk Park that depicts life in Ireland as it once was. Surprise, tonight you will be guests at a Medieval Banquet just as in times past. The lords and ladies of the castle will sing and perform during your dinner, including wine. This will truly be a night to remember!
Sun. Nov. 3 Another exciting day as you drive along the Atlantic coastline to see the limestone plateau of the Burren that’s compared to the moon’s surface. (Awake 3/08/04, p.22) Next, you will be able to walk along the amazing Cliffs of Moher where the land and sea meet. These cliffs are a solid wall of rock that rise 700 feet above the pounding surf of the Atlantic Ocean that stretch for five miles offering amazing photographs. Afterwards, you will visit a farm for a demonstration showing you how a farmer uses a whistle and a dog to round up his sheep. You will then continue on winding roads passing quaint Irish villages before arriving at your hotel in the historical city of GALWAY. Dinner will be on your own to enjoy one of the local pubs or restaurants.
Mon. Nov. 4 Today you will learn about the lives and working conditions of the people as you travel through the interesting farmlands. The highlight will be spending the last two days and nights including dinner each evening at the beautiful, historic 15th century Cabra Castle as pictured above.
Tue. Nov. 5 This morning you’ll travel to BELFAST for a historical Tour of the city including a visit to the new Titanic Museum where this luxury ship was built. Here you will relive the story of the famous “Titanic” through its state-of-the-art displays. There will then be time for shopping before returning to the castle with the afternoon free to enjoy the beautiful grounds. The last highlight will be tonight’s “Farewell Dinner” in the Castle!
Wed. Nov. 6 It’s time to depart to the Dublin Airport for the return flight to your hometown city. Traveling with Friends from other parts of the country is something you will enjoy as you have now seen the Best of Ireland!
