Sat., Oct. 31 Depending on your departure city, everyone will fly overnight on various flights to ROME. Enjoy dinner and inflight entertainment as you cross the Atlantic Ocean to one of the most exciting countries in Europe.

Sun., Nov. 1 Arrive ROME today and transfer to your hotel. Balance of the day is at your leisure. There will be a Welcome Reception and Dinner along with an evening orientation drive to view some of the sights of Roma. (Go to and click on “Italy Rediscovered” for a video.)
Mon., Nov. 2 Today you will visit the VATICAN CITY (smallest country in the world, surrounded by Italy) seeing the Vatican Museum, and Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel with its famous frescoed ceiling. You will then walk through St. Peter’s Square and Basilica, the largest church in Christendom, where you will be shown the “Divine Name” (Awake 7/8/01, p. 14). Next, cross the Tiber into Ancient Rome to visit the 2,000-year-old Colosseum and see the Circus Maximus. Rest of your day is free.

Tue., Nov. 3 Depart Rome to journey south to the well-pre-served POMPEII ruins. You will walk the ancient paved roads of a city frozen in time after the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Later, arrive in the clifftop village of SORRENTO. Enjoy dinner at the hotel.

Wed., Nov. 4 This morning you will cross the Bay of Naples by ferry to the glamorous ISLE OF CAPRI. Have your camera ready! While in Capri town, you’ll be guided past boutiques and pavement cafes. Try a slice of Torta Caprese before you head back to Sorrento.

Thu., Nov. 5 After breakfast you head north to the slopes of Mount Subasio and arrive in the mystical town of ASSISI. Visit the 12th-century grand castle fortress of Rocco Maggiore which is perched atop of a walled hilltop overlooking Assisi. Next travel to PERUGIA where you will have a local dinner at the hotel.

Fri., Nov. 6 After breakfast, you will visit a chocolate factory and enjoy a tasting. Journey through the glorious countryside of the Emilia Romagna region. This area is credited for tortellini, mortadella and parmigiano cheese. Arrive later in romantic VENICE, the Jewel of the Adriatic where you will enjoy dinner at the hotel.

Sat., Nov. 7 Wake up in one of the most remarkable cities in the world! This lovely city is filled with canals and gondolas and is the only city without cars, as there are more than 150 canals used as streets built on 114 islands in the sea. Gondolas and motorboats are used as taxis, making everyone simply fall in love with Venice. Cruise your way through Venice by private launch. You will visit a Murano glass-blowing workshop, then travel to St. Mark’s Square where you will see the magnificent Doge’s Palace with its famous Bridge of Sighs (Awake 507, p.23).

Sun., Nov. 8 Today cross the lush green Lombardy plains to sophisticated MILAN, Italy’s capital of design and fashion. You’ll enjoy an orientation Tour past the Gothic Duomo, La Scala Opera House and the famous Galleria. As you travel through Italy, sample the regional Italian specialties. Later we will enjoy an Italian dinner at the hotel.

Mon., Nov. 9 Travel to the glistening blue water of LAKE COMO. Explore the charming Como old town. Indulge in the delicious gelato of the area. Free time to enjoy the lake then travel back to Milan for the night.

Tue., Nov. 10 Tuscany lures us across the forested Apennine Mountains, past the Carrara marble quarries to PISA and its Square of Miracles where you will view the Leaning Tower. Travel through the Chianti vineyards and olive groves to FLORENCE, the Cradle of the Renaissance.

Wed., Nov. 11 After breakfast, enjoy a walking Tour of this medieval town. You’ll see many points of Biblical interest, including the architecture and history by Botticelli and Leonardo da Vinci. Walk over the famous Ponte Vecchio Shopping Bridge and along the medieval streets to see the multicolored Duomo and Piazza della Signoria. Shop for Italian leather goods, jewelry, decorative plates and textiles. Dinner is included.

Thu., Nov. 12 Heading south, to visit the charming Tuscan hilltop town of SAN GIMIGNANO. The 13th-century city walls surround the thousand-year old towers and the Piazza del Duomo forming an unforgettable skyline. Return to Rome.

Fri., Nov. 13 Following breakfast, this morning’s highlight will be touring the Rome Bethel Home and strolling around the gardens seeing the unique model of Jerusalem. Rest of the day to shop, walk up the Spanish Steps or enjoy a slice of pizza. Gather for a Farewell Dinner.

Sat., Nov. 14 “Arrivederci Roma” as you are transferred to the airport for your return flight to the USA. As you can see, a lot of extras are included plus some surprises, making this a great trip that you won’t want to miss!
